Mathematics
This section will include a lesson plan on using "counting up" as a method for vertical addition. In the spring semester of 2012, this lesson was presented to a first grade general education class that functions on three tiers (Tier 1: Below/Approaching grade level students; Tier 2: Meeting grade level students; Tier 3: Above grade level students). The whole class lesson taught three tiers simultaneously, but independent practice was differentiated through three worksheets and tier 1 students received guided practice with the cooperating teacher. This section also provides a reflection on how I think the lesson went.
